Hi Nancy,

I've been using henna for 6 months--2 of which were spent abroad. I
only used henna once during my travels in Taiwan during the month of
August. While my henna and indigo mixes were certainly not complex
(I used brewed coffee and very warm water), I found that it was
relatively easy to find time to henna in the hotel (I always leave
my henna in overnight). I didn't have any problems in the airports
getting my henna through the gates--but my packs of henna and indigo
were relatively small, completely sealed and unopened. Many hotels
abroad, including in Europe, have coffee makers in the room.

I have stubborn grey hair (80%), but have found that henna doesn't
necessarily need all the dye-release time and ingredients that we
find here. I only use Catherine's henna and indigo, and have found
that if I do 2 separate treatments, I can let henna sit for 1-2
hours, and indigo sit for 30 minutes, and the dye still releases
very well, if not perfectly well.

Another option is to be prepared to pull your hair back, or brush it
back to cover the rootes for the short period that you'll be gone.

As far as traveling and being an American are concerned, you are
right to be worried. And unfortunately, I think that it will only
get worse after what happened yesterday...

Best,
Anna
