why do you use cold liquid for your mix?

oops, i'm a bit confused now to read that almost all of you seem to
put COLD water into your henna and wait up to 24 hrs for dye release.
I always use hot liquid and wait no longer than 30 mins before putting
it on, but let it develop further under my plastic cap then and up to
4-5 hrs. Now, i'd like to ask, if you could say it's the same if you
do it with either
- cold liquid and wait for 12-24 hrs, or
- hot liquid which would result in faster dye release
(but there's always the danger of over-cooking it)
i've looked at the dye release tables, and it really seems to be that
those results would be comparable: so ...
why use the cold liquid and wait so long at all? Is it easier to
"catch" dye release, better, because you save time running round with
that stuff on your head, or to escape the danger of overcooking with
that? I live in a rather cold climate, where i guess i'd have to wait
ages for dye release, so i've never used this method.. until now.

thx for answering
elektra
