Some of the older cosmetology books said add boiling water, or prepare
the henna in a double boiler. The only reason I can think of to do
this is to get dye release INSTANTLY. Also, warmer mixes open up the
scales on the hair shaft. So ........ warm would probably maximize
crappy henna, which is what people had to work with 80 years ago.

Those of us who come in out of body art henna coax out dye release
more slowly for reasons of texture and intense stain. I think slower
and cooler is better, but ....
