: Dear all,
:
: This is my first post on this forum; I have been visiting the site
: only a few days now and I am very excited to re-try Henna. I say re-
: try because I have used a version of Henna before from Lush
: Cosmetics, where the henna is set in blocks by using cocoa butter.
: The particular version I used (caca brun) contains Indigo dye too.
:
: What I was wondering was: I have light to medium brown hair. It's
: blah. I have sworn off synthetic dyes for the rest of my life (PPDs)
: and whilst I totally understand henna is going to redden my hair, I
: was wondering if anyone here knew of a good henna recipe for a
: darkish brown, like a chocolate colour. Having been through a lot of
: stress this year my hair is breaking easily, making it look thin,
: and since I have fine hair anyway, I really cant afford for this to
: happen! I know Henna is great for strength and body, but I really
: dont want to go RED.
:
: If anyone could help me, I would be very much obliged! Thank you. xxx

There is no way to get around the red of henna especially in the sun,
but mixing with indigo turns it more burgandy than orange tone,
especially important if your hair is on the lighter side of brown. I
would highly recommend ordering some indigo at the same time just in
case you need it and run some tests. Check out the mixes section.

If you don't have grey to worry about and just want conditioning you
might consider using the cassia and maybe mix it a bit of henna for a
slight color lift. If and when you have to cover grey 50/50 henna and
indigo gets you to a cooler dark brown with red highlights in the sun.
