: I just read the post on PPD's. TERRIBLE STUFF! Anyway, isn't that
: ingredient in shampoos? I know when I use Aveda, my head itches.
: It may be a reaction to the "natural" herbs in it, but since PPD
: comes in a variety of names, and we aren't all chemists, how does
: one know they aren't getting that in something else they use?
What
: about sodium laurel sulfate? I have heard that is terrible stuff,
: but it's in almost everything.

SLS [which appears under other names as well] is what's known as an
anionic surfactant. In plain English, it's the stuff that makes a
detergent suds up. Many people have a conditioned response to the
effect that, if it doesn't make suds, it can't get things clean. It's
one of the attitudes which Aubrey's opposes, and his products don;t
contain SLS. I don't know if it is as harmful as PPDs, not having
done research about it in that direction, and not being a scientist
anyway. If you key in 'sodium laurel sulphate,' you should get lots of
sites about it. The link below may help.
