: Rhubarb root has high enough levels of chrysophanic acid to be a
: yellow dye. That doesn't mean it will lighten hair, though. If you
: draw with a yellow crayon on dark brown paper, it doesn't exactly
turn
: the paper yellow. These dyes are all translucent stains.
:
: Adding rhubarb root to cassia obovata would show up yellow only on
: hair that is pale to begin with.
:
: Combing lemon juice through hair sitting in the sunshine is the only
: way I know of to lighten hair, and I can't see that working on just
: roots.

Oh ok thanks for that. Back to the drawing board. In my search for an
answer, I did come across somthing a woman had written to turn her
dull medium brown hair a rich chestnut brown, she added cocoa to both
her shampoo and conditioner. She said it worked great, so I was
thinking maybe added to henna it would give those brown tones so many
on this site are after. Does this sound feasible?
