Hello Dee!
Liked your site btw, I must spend a bit more time over there when I
get the chance.
Congrats on finding henna and good luck with "the plunge"! I've only
hennaed my hair once, about a month ago, and everything I know I've
learned from the lovely people here at HFH. However, yes, apparently
repeated use of henna will deepen the colour over time, so no doubt
the "orange" will darken. Also a couple of thoughts on that: I found
that messing around with different mixes (a-la mixes page!)
definitely gave me different results. The straightforward lemon juice
mix gave me a colour that was too brassy and orange for my taste. The
mix I ended up using was a henna + red wine + cloves + olive oil
mixture and it gave me something more like chestnut. So if you are
not in a mad rush to do your hair straightaway, you could try
experimenting with the mix a little. Even if you go ahead and do your
hair at the weekend, in future you could possibly alter the colour
result with a different mix.
Also, I'm sure you've seen here a lot of times already: the orange
does mellow. It will tone down considerably in a few days to a week.
So no need to panic over the initial result! As you said in your line
of work who'll notice?! LOL. I'm surprised you haven't gone red
before, almost a job requirement hee hee. (I'm wiccan and I firmly
believe that growing up redheaded was one of the main things that
lead me to become a pagan! lol)
Have fun with the henna, keep us posted.
