Yasmin's Mix

| Here's a picture of my hair -
before (below) and after (above) The difference is subtle but clear which is what I good as I didn't want a strong red. My hair is naturally brown with red and gold highlights though it tends to bleach in the sun in streaks, which I hate. I wanted to darken it generally and get more of a red hightlight particularly on the bleached bits. I made an infusion of crushed cloves in lemon juice in the morning and left it to sit through the day. In the afternoon I strained the liquid out and mixed it with 100g of red henna and left that in the fridge overnight until I saw dye release. Then I mixed 100g of indigo with hot water and left it for about half an hour. I mixed the henna and indigo batches together and added some strong black coffee. I put this mix through my hair, put plastic and a towel on it and left it for 3.5hrs before rinsing it out. I really like the result but I'm looking forward to emphasising it with a second treatment in about a month or so. I think my mixture was a bit thick because it was hard to squelch through my hair (I have to admit I haven't had that much fun rubbing green stinky mud in my hair since I was three!) Seriously though, it wasn't a bad stinky and now my hair has a rich smell of cloves and coffee to it. In addition, my hair tends to be pretty wild and can be frizzy at times and I think the henna has tamed it a little with the curls being more defined. ![]() Yasmin
