Henna for Hair

Hello!

I wanted to share with you some before and after photos of Henna results on my hair.  First, some background:

I have short, fine and very straight medium brown hair that is unfortunately going very gray at the temples!  I'm only 27 and really prefer not to have mousey gray hair at my age!  Commercial dyes are too harsh for my fine hair so I prefer not to use them, and have not for quite some time now.
The last time I used "Light Mountain", it left a greenish cast to the ends of my hair when in the sunlight. (the ends had been highlighted about 8 months prior to me using the henna, that may have something to do with it.)

I found your website and finally decided to try some body art quality henna on my hair.  WOW what a difference!  The consistancy was much easier to work with and, when mixed with the indigo I also purchased from you, it produced a wonderful, rich dark auburn color.  Let me break down the procedure I followed when applying henna to my hair.

1.  I mixed 100g of body art quality henna (purchased from Mehandi) with the juices of 3 lemons.  I then added enough spring water to make it the consistancy of soft pudding.  I combined the mixture in a large Gladware container, snapped on the lid and wrapped that in a dark towel and let it sit for just shy of 12 hours.

2.  The next step was to mix 100g of indigo (purchased from you) with enough warm spring water to make the consistancy of soft pudding.  I also mixed this in a smaller Gladware container, snapped on the lid and let sit for 10 minutes.

3.  Once the Indigo had steeped for 10 minutes, I mixed the Indigo with the Henna in the Gladware container until well blended.

4.  I then moved the operation to the bathroom where I had large cotton balls, Saran Wrap, Face Cream, one of your carrot bags and a pair of scissors waiting for me.

5.  I forgot to pick up some gloves, which I recommend, as my hands are still stained.

6.  I now applied the cream to my forehead, ears, and around the back perimeter of my hairline.

7.  At this point, I filled the carrot bag with the Henna/Indigo mixture, snipped the tip, and began applying it to my clean, towel dried hair.  I seriously recommend the carrot bags.  They reduce the mess drastically!

8.  Once my head was completely lathered in the goo-y greenish brown, plant smelling concoction, I washed my hands, applied more cream around my hairline and stuck cotton balls all in a row around my forehead, behind my ears, and down the back of my head.

9.  The cotton balls stuck wonderfully, and I was able to wrap my head in Saran Wrap, around the cotton balls, very easily.  Very little mess, no drips.

10.  I then wrapped my head in the olive green colored towel I purchased specifically for this application.

11.  I let this remain on my head for 4 hours.  Watched a movie, went out to get take-out, lay down in bed and watched another movie........

12.  The henna/indigo mixture rinsed out very easily with a little conditioner and I am very pleased with the results!  At first, the gray at my temples was a little orangey, but now, two days later, it has darkened to a deeper red.  I'm going to use a little more Indigo next time, to see if I can deepen the gray at my temples even more.  The rest of my head of hair is shiny dark brown, just the way I like it!  I'm growing my hair out, so I'm looking forward to the strengthening bennefits of henna and can't wait to do this again!

Sarah
