Elektra's New Mix

Elektra's gray hair before and after indigo: and the results of Elektra's new indigo mix.
See Elektra's old mix at http://www.hennaforhair.com/mixes/elektra/

As I've simplified my mix, I'd like to post an update for my current method:

Statistics:
Natural colour (as I remember): dirty dark blonde to light brown
Greys? Yes, overall ca. 20% (mostly at the parting, max. 50% there)
Henna: 100g body art quality
Indigo: 100g bulk, mostly
Liquids: lemon juice, water
Other ingredients used: grounded cloves, tea tree oil, sometimes amla
Dye release time: ca. 12 hrs
Henna time: 3-4 hrs
Colour achieved: dark red brown, bit burgundy-ish

I henna every 4 weeks and use 100g henna (body art quality), plus 100g indigo, in one step, meanwhile. The day before hennaeing, I put 10g cloves in the henna and mix it all with lemon juice and water (at room-temperature, 50/50), then let it sit for approx. 12 hrs until I see dye release. (I stopped using red wine as a liquid because of this change of method, didn't wanna stink up the house for 12 hrs ;)

Then, I prepare the indigo with warm(!) water, let it sit until I see dye release (15-20 min.), and mix it under the henna, and add tea tree oil (max. 10 drops) and sometimes amla.  When adding amla, I prepare it like henna, the day before, and mix it into henna and indigo when it's all ready.

I then apply it all, starting from the top of my head, using a haircolour brush and wrapping it in a plastic cap, then aluminium foil, then a towel, to keep it warm, and wash it all off after 3-4 hrs, shampooing only the next day.

I get a wonderful deep dark red brown afterwards and my greys are nicely covered, as you can see.

I'm still experimenting with using amla, because it seems to push the colour too much to brown. I'm missing the red now, though I always craved for a dark brown ;) (BTW, I'm allergic to walnuts, so, using this has never been an option for me)

This is my 1-step-method (and kudos for that to you, Kim A!). I used to do henna, then indigo, in 2 steps before, and I still think the colour on the greys got more intense, but I'd really like to stick to the easier 1-step-method now.

The picture you see was the result of a 2-step-process, though - first henna, then indigo, immediately after. Also, I used Catherine's henna, which gave me one of the best reds ever!
