Monica's Mix

| I mix 100 g of Castle
Art regular henna unsifted and enough lemon juice to make a
paste.
I usually throw in any leftover terped henna cones but I didn't have
any
this time. It doesn't seem to make a difference on my hair if the
mix is terped or not. I mixed in a zipper bag and let sit for 12
hours when I had planned on hennaing. However, life intruded and
I had to put the henna in the freezer for three days until I got a
chance
to do my hair.
After the paste thawed, I added more lemon juice to get it the consistency that is close to styling gel. I cut a tip off of the zipper bag and using this as an applicator, I worked the paste through my hair, covered it with a Saran Quick Cover and wrapped in a towel. I left this on for 4 hours while I watched Xena season 3 DVD's. I then showered and shampooed as normal (with Suave Daily Clarifying shampoo, no conditioner) and this is the result. The pictures were taken right after shampooing and drying. My hair is naturally medium to
dark brown
and as you can see, there wasn't much change in the overall
color.
But in bright sunlight you can see dark burgundy low lights.
Think
of a nice Merlot and that's about what my hair looks like. I
think
that the reason my hair isn't as red as a lot of other's is because my
hair is horribly resistant to anything made to put on hair. Every
chemical color I've ever used on it has washed out within a week
including
expensive salon dye jobs. The last time I got a perm it took the
strongest mix they had and three tries to even get my hair to be
slightly
wavy and by then most of it was falling out. I have an incredibly
oily scalp and my hair is closer to Asian than Anglo. Not only
are
the individual strands very fine, but I don't have much of it
either!
And it is flat as a board without even a hint of wave or body to
it.
