Henna for Hair

Mona's Mix
Mona before hennaMona after

This is the first time I have used henna. I have chemically colored my hair for nearly 30 years, on and off. My hair is about med. brown with red/gold highlights. At this point it is blonde weaved with red. I stopped the chemical coloring about 5 weeks ago. I have silver coming in mostly in the front and temples.

I used 100gr. of Catherines henna, mixed with appr. 2 cups of lemon juice cut with a little water and 1/4 cup of chammomile tea(2 bags steeped for several hours) mixed together until the consistency of lumpy yogurt. Covered with saran wrap, left overnight on my kitchen table.

Next morning added a few drops of Ylang Ylang EO, but the fragrance didn't really come thru. I started out trying to section off my hair to get the roots first, but it became kind of tangled (had shampoo'd my hair, no conditioner). So, I used my gloved hands and gently slathered it in, concentrating on the scalp then the hair length. Wrapped it with Saran wrap and waited 3 1/2 hrs and then rinsed it out in shower. I added conditioner, rinsed, then a tiny bit of shampoo, and then conditioner again.

The process wasn't very messy, during application or rinse out so I was pleased. A bit orangey, but from reading forum and checking mixes a lot, I realize it will lessen in time. If not, I can always do it again! How come everyone isn't doing this?! =)
I am very pleased with the whole process, especially that no more chemicals are being dumped on my head! Thanks!!
