Henna for Hair

  Manda's Mix
manda

I have been trying to grow out my chemically processed hair (permed & colored).

After reading about how henna is a great alternative to coloring with chemicals & how it adds strength, I figured I would try it.

I mixed 100 grams of henna from Mehandi with tap water, honey, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, about 20 drops of tea tree oil and 5 drops lavender essential oil until it was a muddy consistency.
It was so much easier to use than the commercial brands!

I let it sit about an hour, then I applied it to my dried hair, using a colorist's brush around my hairline and part.

I then covered my hair with a shower cap, and Turbie Twist.

I left the henna on for about 18 hours (overnight).

In the morning, I went outside and rinsed under the hose.

I then jumped into the shower and rinsed some more. I used globs of light conditioner to help rinse the henna out, followed by an apple cider vinegar + water rinse. When I got the rest of the henna out, I applied a heavy moisturizing conditioner, let it sit for at least 10 minutes, then rinsed.
