Luka's Mix

Luka before henna
Luka after henna

| Hello there! I just tried my
first henna session, and I am completely amazed by the results. My
hair's normally a brassy, faintly reddish brown. It's currently a few
inches past my butt, and I've never dyed the back before (I do have
rainbow bangs). I've always wanted red hair, but chemicals are a no-no
if you're trying to grow it longer than waist length. A couple weeks ago I finally decided to try out henna and see if it could kick the color over into a true red, and I bought about 500g of the body art quality stuff from your store. I mixed the entire amount with lemon juice and let it sit for 12 hours in a big glass bowl before adding a lot of paprika and cinnamon, plus some brewed cinnamon tea. Finally, I put in some patchouli, crushed clove, and allspice and stirred it up as well as I could. I then took a shower, let my hair get halfway dry, and braided my streaked bangs to get them out of the way so they wouldn't be dyed, and bribed my roommate to help smoosh the paste into my hair. Then we saran wrapped the muck into a giant freakish beehive and settled down for a Battlestar Galactica marathon. Six hours later, I jumped back in the shower and spent half an hour getting the stuff back out again. The wet hair didn't look that different, so I was disappointed, thinking I messed it up or maybe my hair was too dark to change much. That is, until I looked in the bathroom mirror and saw that my scalp and the roots of my hair were now flaming carrot orange! It was amazing, and when the rest of my hair dried it didn't disappoint me. The color was psycho orange for a day or so, then calmed down to a really nice autumn red (which is how it looks now). Oddly, my ears and neck didn't stain at all, even though they were completely saturated for hours. My hands are still Cheeto orange three days later, because I didn't wear gloves while handling the goop in my hair (it's very cool looking). Best of all, the patchouli scent is still there, and it smells wonderful. I'm defintiely planning to add cinnamon and patchouli to the next mix when what I've got now fades. The hair itself is softer, smoother and hasn't been tangling as much as usual. I'm hoping it helps with split ends, since all the other claims have turned out to be true. Color me hooked on henna! I'll leave you with some pictures in case you want to use this on the site with the others. I'm also plugging away on my livejournal, and hopefully I can refer a few new customers with my INCESSANT BRAGGING about the new hair color. Take care and thank you so much! Luka
