Crystal's Mix

| I have contact dermatitis from
using commercial haircolor. My scalp had been severely damaged from
bleaching/coloring, and I thought I would have to go grey as I got
older because I could not even inhale the fumes without some kind of
reaction. Some of the side effects were: A maddening itch, large scabs,
hair loss and itchy red bumps all down my back and chest. When I was in
Cosmetology school, my instructors told us never to use henna, that it
would coat the hair shaft making it dull and lifeless, also rendering
our hair unfit for any other chemical process. Since then, I've kept my
hair very short, and chemical-free. My hair is medium brown with gold
highlights and fine in texture. I came across the "Henna for hair"
website and thought it was worth a try, considering all of the
testimonies of long-term henna use. The pictures of beautiful L O N G
hair, the kind that is healthy and strong; convinced me to do it, and
now I think I always will. Here is my mix: Day #1 50 grams Henna Strong black coffee 4 tsp. finely ground cloves Merlot --Stir it up with a wire wisk, carefully pour the mixture into a zip-lock bag, and set it atop the fridge for 24 hrs. Day #2 (My mom suggested beet juice) so I added about a quarter cup to the brew. I smooshed it, and massaged it into my hair and scalp. It really feels good, no burning or even a tingling sensation at all, just pure love! I wrapped it up in plastic, put on a terrycloth turban, and sat outside in the sun for a while. Four hours later, I drew a bath and submerged, shaking the henna out while under the water. I used about 4 pumps of Chamomile conditioner to work it out. I am very pleased with the results! ![]() |
