Towel turban after hennaeing?

While I have my henna plopped on my head, I have been using a
disposable plastic shower cap to keep the henna sealed inside. After
an hour or so, I can tell my body heat is building inside the
plastic. I would guess that would help with dye release, too. What
is the purpose of wrapping the hair in a towel as well? Is it that
little extra boost of heat to help the henna color develop? Please
advise. I have not been using a towel, but will really consider it
if it helps! Thanks.
