hmmmm...well if you have not tried it already I would definitely do a
cider vinegar rinse first(the acid will lift the hair's mantle and
make it more porous)and then I used very warm water to dampen my hair
before I did the indigo and salt water first. I don't know what you
have tried, or in what combination, but this definitely works for me
and before the indigo would eventually fade. I knew I was on the
right track when there was absolutely no color bleed during the
rinsing and then none for the first shampoo. Usually for me doing it
the way I always did before with dry hair and henna first(and no salt
in the indigo)I would have alot of color bleed and have to sleep with
a black towel on my pillow the first few nights. Not a stain this
time. also try to go as long as you can before the first shampoo--
atleast 3 days. The one thing I did do 'extra' was put in about 1/2
cup of flat beer to the henna/indigo mix, but I mainly did that just
coz it happened to be in the fridge and I know it conditions. The
allspice did work on making it darker too. I always terp--I use a
half a dropper(about 20 drops) EACH of tea tree, lavender and
rosemary, just something I have always done. and I did use probably
1/4 cup of sea salt in the first straight indigo--it stung my
forehead a little bit.
I don't know what else to advise you to try. It was a surprise to me
that this turned out so great. My friend in Japan is not usually so
well versed in hair dye-ing. But she said it is how the Japanese
ladies do it on post. good luck!
