Recommendations for getting a color like this from henna?

It's Heather Graham in the movie "From Hell." At times in the film her
hair is a very fiery color, but this is what I'm aiming for. I realize
it's partially the lighting, but oh well.

My hair is a mousy ashy brown that's been dyed a lot. Right now the
ends have an orangey-red tint to them and the middle is a little more
blond, if that makes sense, but they're all the same "level" of
middling, mousy tone. I've got a lot of roots now because I've been
planning to henna for a while. That's actually why I bleached all the
color out and ended up with the mousy rainbow!

I'm tempted to get my hair toned so that the ends match the roots,
then testing some "hairballs" to make sure it's ok to henna. I guess
that would be better than risking Lucille Ball on the bottom and Agent
Scully on the top, no?

And one more question! Has anyone on here ever achieved a "natural"
sort of burgundy that doesn't have that flat, fake purple tone (like a
singed Strawberry Shortcake) you see in commercial dyes? Or does
burgundy hair always look like that?
