Roy and I've been talking about the approaches to dying white wool he
used ages ago ............ in the dyebath salt ALWAYS made for more
dye saturation .... probably opens up the keratin scales. I wonder if
a salt paste for a while at the roots would do the same, and not hurt
the skin.

The usual ways of opening up the keratin in dying just aren't going to
be suitable .... caustics and boiling.
