Women (and men) regularly hennaed their pubic areas right after
depilitation in the village bath throughout the Islamic world (at
least prior to the 20th century. The practice continues, but less
often). There's even a painting of an Ottoman bath where you can see
a woman scooping up a handfull of henna and putting it ...... um
....... right there. Probably didn't have a lot of lemon juice in
the mix...........

The henna soothed the irritation from depilitation, and according to
some, in men, improved the scent and appearance, and deterred heat rash.

Dunno about henna in eyebrows. I know a lot more about indigo as an
eyebrow cosmetic.
