Henna on " new" Dreadlocks

I have been dying my hair black with "chemical" dyes for a few
years. I just recently locked my hair and want to get away from
chemicals. Would the henna be safefor my locks? I want to make sure
it won't make the locks slip out or not lock at all?! Thanks!!
