I tested it on harvested hair first. I tested it on paper. I tested
it on cloth. Then, I put amla on one very gray part of my hair and
left it on overnight .... made it sorta cool silvery and very wavy,
but no real color change.

So,next day, I put it on my roots where I've got 6 months of brown
and gray grown out (I am totally lazy about doing my hair!) The gray
came up pleasantly silvery, and the brown became a cool, ashy brown.
Very little color change. I MUST do my henna again now, because the
cool tone where I Amla'd is so different from the hennaed color.

I think one of the optimum uses would be for a person who is not going
gray, but who has black or brown/black hair that tends to get "rusty"
in the summer. This would preserve the cool black color, and make it
silkyshiny.

I'll do as many tests on harvested hair as I can to see what else I
can turn up ... or .... maybe it will start turning up in the mixes now.
