I think it's more about adapting your styling method....

If I brush out my hair now (post henna)it has a smoother finish on
top (oh, I hope that makes sense)- my waves are softer, less frizzy.
I used to use curl products - Noodle Head, Configure, Matrix,
whatever, but now I find they weigh my hair down. Post henna I am
using MUCH less Monoi and Jojoba as well- they are too heavy and
make me look like the Sphynx! Instead, I now use a mist bottle with
water and a little Paul Mitchell leave on, or an H2O/gel mix in a
sprayer, then scrunch it up and clip with a butterfly clip until dry-
voila curls without a ton of product!

I THINK that some of the goal of curl products is to add moisture to
the hair, helping separate the locks and add bounce. Hair that has
had a Henna treat is not as raw and dry as curly hair usually is,
and needs less coating to play nicely. The same thing that gives you
a smooth hair shaft is causing less "lift" because there are less
frizzles to "hold" the volume in your hair. Just a guess, I'm no
stylist.

It may be that you are overdoing what worked *before* the henna, and
causing the curl to weigh down :>)You need to forget the tricks you
used before and try something new (thank the Gods for spray mist
bottles! $1.99 at Target)....

My hair type, BTW, is very thick, but fine - tends to full waves but
can be coaxed to individual curls. I'm thinking about getting some
layers cut in, but frankly can't get over my fear of hair stylists.

Good luck with the curls.
