Hi Gregory,

I too have dreadlocks and have had them for about nine years. I cut
them regularly (about every two months) and currently they are about
five inches past my shoulders. I have African-Canadian hair and my
locks are medium in thickness. I have been colouring them for years
with chemicals, but am now using henna and indigo to make them jet
black. I have used Lush's henna in Caca Noir which has a fair amount
of indigo (surprisingly, it worked and covered the grey, but I hennaed
first with 'real' stuff). I have recently bought some indigo from
Catherine. I will be using that in a month or so.

I have had no problems colouring my hair with henna at all. You will
have to spend a lot of time under the shower, but I spent a long time
rinsing out chemical dyes as well. With henna, my hair has never been
better. It is healthy and I have no dry scalp problems at all. When I
styled my dreads myself, I neatly parted them, so they are
meticulously groomed and I condition them with homemade stuff. I love
using coconut oil,for example. Henna has been a great addition to my
beauty routine!
