: i have a question. Is henna the same stuff as mehendi??
: forgive my cluelessness and PLEASE answer my question coz i am VERY
: confused.

Henna is the Arabic word for Lawsonia Inermis, which is ... henna.
Mehndi, Mehandi, Mehendi, Mendhi and a dozen other words are
transliterations for the word for Lawsonia Inermis in some of the
languages spoken in India (there are MANY languages in India)

In all cases, the word for the bush, the art form, and the paste are
the same .....
you grow henna, you make henna paste, you apply henna, you are
hennaed, the art form is henna, you henna your hair .... in Arabic
languages.

You grow Mehandi, you make mehandi paste, you apply mehandi, you have
mehandi designs, you are a mehandi artist ... In Gujarat India.

Same plant, different languages
