: One reason you don't want to just put indigo on is that it turns a
smarmy blue-
: black. There is no shine to it. I did a sample and was quite
horified by the
: color. The henna gives some gleam and also red+blue=black. I use
the indigo
: from mehindi.com (the sister site that I spelled wrong!) And I get
consistant,
: fantastic results. I really should post a pict of my latest
adventure.

: : Please don't bite if this has been answered elsewhere - I
probably
: : haven't looked in the correct place.
: :
: : Why do you need to apply henna before applying the indigo? Is it
: : because the henna draws/allows the indigo pigment to penetrate
the
: : hair?
: :
: : I have to say I'm looking forward to using the indigo. For
several
: : years I've gone from chemical dyes to henna -but after a couple
of
: : severe reactions to nasty chemicals, henna is the only way to go
: : now. I currently use the 'noir' henna from Lush as this is the
: : easiest available and very simple to use.

If I want to buy indigo...where I can buy it from. Chemist? Is it
pure indigo. THe same for amla. Do I buy it from the spice shop or
chemist. Sorry if my questions are silly but I am not sure where I
can get these things
