Good morning,
When I was using chemicals to dye, I used my herbal tint to keep
the black more black. It helped to keep the color more blue-black,
which I prefered to the red (fading) black. Now that I'm using henna
I don't think I will be needing it as much as a wash. When I was
letting my hair go wild this past summer I would put the tint in
with a cotton ball. I would saturate the roots, then comb it through
the ends, then put it up in a ponytail. It would look wet all day,
but it would dry and look wet. The sage made it a little sticky.
When I would wash my hair, it looked the same as washing out indigo,
lots of blue. Black malva looks blue. This tint did not completly
cover the grey, but it helped to mask the grey while I was letting
it go. I ordered the herbs from Mountain Rendezvous Trading Co.
They are very helpful, and have good service. They are in Lakewood,
Co. You can find them on the Net, or call 303-988-7685.
I also got my black walnut from them, which I mixed with my henna
for the first time yesterday I've had this on my head since 6pm last
night, that makes 14 1/2 hours! This was my first over-night henna.
Also, I use the herbal tint, rather than water, when I need to thin
my henna. Yes, you can keep the tint in the refrigerator. Also, you
can play around with the measurments to suit your color. I may add
the black walnut to my next herbal tint. Wow, this has been my
longest post, hope it's helpful. Nancy E.
