I use "Henara" shampoo & conditioner, I am from the UK and you can get
them everywhere here, but not sure about anywhere else. They are
enriched with a tiny amount of henna, and i think they have food
colouring in as well (looking at the ingredients) but they don't seem
to have any really wierd chemicals (apart from the normal sodium
laureth sulphate stuff that normal shampoo and conditioners have. It
dosn't change your colour drastically but it certainly helps your hair
retain the henna (i have found, especially since i swim a lot and the
chorine strips the colour quite fast, it seems to preserve it for
longer). It also seems to add some really shiny highlights, which
obviously henna does as well, but i find the combination of the two to
work really beautifully.

It says on the bottle that you can leave them in for 1-2 minutes (both
the shampoo or the conditioner) and the more frequetly you use them
the more it enhances the colour. I really like them anyway, good for
colour preservation & enhancement, but certainly don't make any kind
of drastic change.

I have tried timotei "copper" henna enriched shampoo and conditioner
as well, but they aren't nearly as good.

also, when i dyed my hair chemically, i used to use John Freida "take
it as red" colour enhancing shampoo and conditioner, which i really
liked, but was quite expensive. I might give it a go again some time,
but since i started using henna i felt that i should go the whole hog
and try the henna enriched s & c, which is also very cheap here, but i
might give the John Freida a go if I get bored of it.

anyway, my advice would be give Henara a go if you can get hold of it!

: : Hi Everyone,
: : I would like to know if anyone has experience with color
: : shampoo and conditioners. I've heard of Aveda black malva,
: : and Manic panic.
: : Will they help the color stay longer? Or would they be a
: : waste of time and money.
: : Nancy
:
: Manic panic shampoos and conditioners are meant for use ONLY on hair
: that has been dyed with Manic Panic. While Manic Panic and henna are
: safe to use on the same head of hair, you cannot mix the two. Don't
: do it.
