I generally don't use anything special. I was using an organic
lavender shampoo and conditioner, but I went out with my sister a few
weeks ago and found this stuff that's probably terrible for hair but I
LOVE it. It's called Archipelago Botanical Hair Mud. It's about $16
for a pound of it. I really like the way it feels but couldn't tell
you if its good or bad for hair.

I've got very thick and fairly healthy hair, oily near the scalp and
nice everywhere else but I've got 2 small patches on the top/sides of
my head that feel REALLY dry and straw like. No evidence of split
ends or anything like that, just dry. I don't know anything about
hair (healthy or otherwise) as I had always kept mine businessman
short. Bunch of friends insisted I stop looking like a guy and let me
hair grow so now 3 years later I've got all this hair and don't know a
damn thing about taking care of it or what to do with it. I pick my
conditioner based on how it makes these 2 patches feel. I'm afraid
that if the hair is dry and I comb/brush it it'll develop split ends
so I want these parts to feel nice without making the rest of my hair
feel like an oil slick and I like the way the mud makes it all feel.
Hope that helps some.
