: : I did have an itchy scalp from the lemon juice the day after I
: : hennaed. I mixed up an egg yolk(we have our own hens so I have
LOTS
: : of eggs) and mayonaise conditioner, left it in an hour, and
rinsed it
: : out. The itch was gone. My hair wasn't tangly(even wet) and
felt
: : thicker. It wasn't slick like you get with store-bought
conditioner
: : though, it just felt healthy. I wonder if a lot of people who
: : complain about their hair feeling like straw after henna are
: : expecting it to feel slick like that. That isn't really
healthy,
: : just a temporary fix.
:
: For me, it's the opposite: when my scalp itches I know it's time to
henna my hair
: again. You might try mixing a base, such as baking soda, in the
henna after the
: dye has released. The straw feeling is henna dust still stuck to
the hair; it goes
: away in a few days.

Pierre, how much baking soda do you use? say, in a mix of 100g henna?
Do you just throw it dry into your mix, once the dye has released, or
dissolved in whatever liquid you add at that point? TIA
