Actually, you're probably correct - most users of the chemicals don't
get the _exact_ color they want. But it's close enough to get the
cigar. It covers both colored and gray hair with the same color, stays
for a while and then needs a "touch-up. Just about every woman I know
colors her hair with the chemicals, and talks about it with other
women. They compare notes on what color they use, have used, or will
use to get a little closer to the color they really, really, really,
want. But for a "newbie", someone who is used to the promise of
"almost" perfect color, the danger of ending up orange is very real.
Then, if they poke around the forum a little, they realize that there
may be the possibility of the interaction of henna and chemicals left
over from previous treatments - frog butt green. See some of the above
and below posts if you aren't sure what I'm referring to. Can you
blame them for being nervous?

The point of my post in response to Elettaria's is simply that it
ain't simple. An application of dye released henna won't "guarantee"
anything. And that's what scares newbies. Packages that promise
chestnut, or auburn, or copper, or any other color are much more
reassuring than 200 grams of a green powder which is reputed to give
you "Lucille Ball" colored hair.

From your post, I gather you've had a negative experience(s) with chem
color and positive with henna, which is marvelous for you. Support
from "satisfied users" is tremendously important in encouraging
newbies to perevere to achieve a satisfying result. Some get it the
first time around, some need advice.

Off topic: I seem to remember reading that, when an new rose named
after her mother was introduced, Lucy Arnaz insisted that her mother's
hair color was "apricot", not orange! Yum.

: I personally think that there is just as much uncertainty from using

: I have been so frustrated with not getting the color I wanted and

: yeah, their marketing ploy worked on me cause they made it sound easy

: wine colored hair? Not even close!
