Hi there,
Can't see anything necessarily wrong with what you did...the colour
will mellow through oxidisation in the next few days...however, if I
were to suggest one thing I would definitely say you should try
leaving the henna for at least 12 hours to release dye. Depending on
how warm the place is where you put it you probably had very little
dye release in just 3 hours. I understand the "impatience" factor
lol, but next time just plan a little ahead. If you used good quality
pure henna, what a shame to miss out on its dye release potential. I
have a great place (known in Ireland as the "hot press", a cupboard
with the hot water tank built in) to leave my mix, where its at about
75-80 degrees F. and I still find that the best time to use the mix
is between 12 or preferably almost 24 hours later. There is a LOT of
dye release then. I only leave the mix on my head for 1-2 hours and
get great results.

Try mixing up your henna in the evening of the day before (if, say,
you plan to do your hair in the morning)keep it cosy and warm and you
should have loads of dye for your hair to take up then! Don't be put
off by the orange, it will deepen next time.
