Yes, I know this henna pretty well and have used it myself a few
times (I am intimately fond of Lush).
The Caca brun is the one I have used, and gives a pretty nice sheen,
although pigmentation wont be as good as the stuff Catherine sells
at mehandi.com, since that is body art quality henna. The Lush stuff
is from Persia and has many devoted followers.
Although henna differs on all hair, so you cannot be 100% sure from
one person to the next, from caca brun I experienced a brownish
sheen with only a small amount of red. The smell resembles cooked
spinach, and doesnt disappear quickly, but you have to expect an
odor with all henna. They put coffee in there because it is supposed
to help darken the hair towards brown not red, although indigo seems
to be the best darkener (alone it turns the hair black). They use
cocoa butter to keep the mixture solid while it is delivered to the
stores and to adhere to the hair to help the henna stick properly.
I last caca'ed my hair a year ago and the hair is still strong and
brown-red at the bottom. I miss that colour so I am on this forum
learning about using body art quality henna and the various recipes
all these wonderful people here have tried. I think the Lush henna
is pretty good for a 'henna virgin' as it takes a lot of the mixing
out. Just make sure to go to the Lush forum and ask others there
what they think. Its permanent, so research is key.
Do you know how to use this henna? Let me know if you want my method.
