It took a few successive applications for the color to deepen, the first one was pretty
orange ... I am not convinced that adding things (I tried black walnut, beetroot,
coffee) changed it ... I think my deeper color came from 1) adding indigo to later
mixes and 2) simply applying several times, so the color "built up" richer and darker
...

mine also didn't seem to "darken up" after a few days.

So if it is brighter than you'd like, consider adding some indigo, and consider re-
doing it 2-3 times to get a deeper color ...

: ok, i did a strand test just to make sure nothing turned 'frog butt
: green'. the bleached part of my hair turned quite orange, but i
: only just rinsed it off, so i think it will darken some.
: the 'normal' part of my hair looks quite dark already! i don't
: really want brown hair...i want a nice rich red/auburn. i've
: already mixed up the big batch of henna, and waited for dye release,
: added the e/o, and now am ready to slap it all on my head. is it
: too late to add anything to the mix to maybe change the color? (i
: mixed it with a 'tea' of strong dark tea, cloves and lemon juice,
: steeped and strained). any advice?
