1) Henna + chemicals = BAD. Mixed henna paste is an acidic; chemical
hair treatments are base. Combining these two can cause all sorts of
nasty reactions, including odd colors like frog butt green, fried and
brittle hair, and in some rare cases, the combination of henna and a
freshly done chemical job might melt the hair off your head.

whereas I understand that the current consensus is that pure henna is
fine, it's the metallic salts which are frequently put into henna
mixes which cause the problems.
