My scalp had become irritated from previous standard permanent hair
dye. Large chunks of dandruff were coming off of my head when I
brushed my hair. I had an itchy, flaky patch at the base of my head,
too, and in other spots on my scalp. It has gotten so much better
since the henna. I think all the rinsing and putting conditioner in
didn't really help the condition for the first day or two, but I left
my scalp alone for a few days. Then I applied coconut oil to my scalp
once (would have done it more but then other life events got in the
way). Note: I normally only wash my hair every 2-3 days, and because
my hair was so dry prior to the henna, I didn't use shampoo for a week
or two after the henna, only conditioner.

I feel like the coconut oil helped. I suspect the henna did as well.
I had already left my hair alone for over a month (no hair dye, I
mean) before I used the henna, though, and my scalp wasn't improving
noticeably.
