: Hey forum-ers! I need some help here.
:
: I plan on henna-ing my hair for the first time soon and I want to
get
: a certain color (or close to it...). The mix is here:
:
: my hair is really dark brown naturally and baby fine. It goes to my
: shoulder blades, so it's almost 6-8 inches shorter than the lady in
: the picture's hair (and it's straight, as opposed to hers being
wavy).
: Any recommendations for how much henna/indigo to use?

Probably about 200g of each, but that's a rough guess.

:
: Also, I'm a little confused as to when the terps go into the henna.
: So I would mix the henna with lemon juice or apple cider vinegar and
: ... wait.. and THEN put the terps in... and wait.. and THEN henna?
:

Yep! Mix the henna with lemon juice/vinegar/acid of choice, let it
sit for a bit so that the dye starts to release then add a few drops
of your terp of choice, mix well, and let sit for another hour or
two. Then plop it on your hair.
:
: Oh, one more question: when I mix in the lemon juice/vinegar.. what
: consistency is it supposed to be? I read somewhere it should be
: yogurt-like. Is that right?

I like mine kind of thick, think mashed potatoes that are slightly
more runny than clumpy. Yogurt would be too thin for me. But, this
is a lot of personal preference, so you'll have to try a few
variations before you find one you like best. It should be a smooth
paste, but other than that the consistency is pretty much how you
like it. Thicker is probably the best place to start, because
runnier will get everywhere and make a mess. If it's too thick as
you're putting it on, add a little lemon juice or even water (just a
TINY bit at a time, mind) to get it runnier.
:
: Thanks in advance for any info given!
