you can make a more light-weight henna application by putting the henna (dry) in
cloth, let this steep in water with lemon juice (this takes awhile, at least overnight)
until a reasonable amount of the dye is in the water, and then take the cloth with the
henna powder out and gel the water with pectin. I've tried this, and it does work, but
you do have to be careful not to cook the henna, - my impression is that you get less
deep colour this way. however the gel, without the henna particles themselves in it,
*is* very light-weight - comparable to 'conventional' hair dye.
