walnut powder or leaves

Hi- I was looking at the website that supplies the mountain rose
herbs. I'm confused as to whether it's the walnut powder or the
leaves that helps tone the red down. From the description, it seems
it's the leaves that have the dyeing quality, yet on this forum, it's
the powder that's mentioned. Does anyone know for sure which to
get? Thanks
