Allergic reaction to hair dye

I had an allergic reaction to hair dye and I am being treated by adoctor. I want to use henna on my hair in the future - I read about
waiting to put henna on hair that has been chemically dyed. Can I
put henna on my new growth instead of all of my hair? Will that work?
I have gray hair mainly in the front of my head and I want a dark
reddish brown color. Also, what combination of products will I have
to use to achieve that color? Please I need help. I'm new to all
this.
