Make hair dark dark brown from black

Hi I am thinking of using henna on my hair which is black and I want
to know if this is the correct way to do it as i have looked up so
many sites on the Net which all say different things. :S

This is how i am planning on doing it with my sis:
Mix 1 tablespoon of coffee with a bit of boiling water to make a thick
paste. After 6 hours, pour the henna powder into it keeping on mixing
it and then add more boiling water to make it a thick paste again.
Afer 20 minutes(like it says on my henna packet)apply this to my hair
and then after 3-4 hours rinse it off.

Is this method right for making it go dark dark brown?
