There are quite a lot of people there in a similar situation, and you
should be able to get a nice deep red. I've just hennaed a friend of
mine who was almost exactly the same - dark dirty blonde, inch of
roots, only she'd dyed it copper (last dyeing was three months
previously) and it had faded to strawberry blonde. She was after
copper, and that's what she got.

You should be fine, go and read up on different recipes and then start
doing samples and strand tests. The one thing I'd recommend is to try
to time it so that your roots have about the same depth of colour as
the dyed parts. J's roots were darker as the dye had faded, and there
is a slight difference with the henna on top, basically that the roots
are still a little darker. It's barely noticeable and I reckon it'll
have gone after another henna.
