Hello all,

I just wanted to say first, this site is wonderful. The community
here is so helpful and dedicated - thank you!

I have somewhat of a unique situation on my hands, I think, and I'm
not sure what to do.

I've been dying my hair for about 10 years with a chemical box dye -
black. I decided about 2 months ago to stop that after reading
reports of PPD that are so sickening. Anyway, I ordered a bunch of
samples to take the plunge and see what results may come from the
leftover dye and henna.

But, if the henna doesn't react terribly with the dye, I still have a
problem, I think.

I have about two inches of gray, very gray, roots and I have no idea
how much of my hair under the dye is actually gray. I also have some
deep brown roots and then the rest which is a dull black.

So, I'm thinking the henna may create a rainbow, not pleasant, since
it'll still look like weird roots of color. I could use indigo and go
black until the dye grows out, but I'd really like to try to be a
henna red, because it's just so beautiful.

Anyway, has anyone ever used a stripper, in conjuction with henna or
otherwise. I don't want to destroy my hair, but I don't want weird
roots either. (It's amazing how many people's eyes gravitate to my
roots, it's disheartening.)

Anyone have any ideas of how I can be an allover color, preferably a
nice deep red?

Thank you all in advance for your help!
