First time henna-er

Hi! I just found out about this forum and I'm so excited to see
everybody posting their henna info. I am new to henna and have not
used it yet but I really really want to... I had a couple questions.

I have colored my hair (with Loreal) for the last couple years,
usually about every 2-3 months I touch up the color. Have any of
you that also colored previously experienced any problems when
hennaing? How long did you wait after your last chemical coloring
to do your first henna and how did it turn out?

Also I was wondering what would be some good suggestions/amounts to
start out with. My hair is a dark auburn-brownish color which I
love, I'd like to keep it close to that color as possible with
henna. My hair comes to a little below my shoulders (top of bra
strap), so I figure about 150 g of henna to start with...? what are
some recommendations for ingredients to add? I was thinking coffee
and cloves...? but I have no idea what amounts of those I would use.
