- I'd substitute the water completely with strong coffee (the scent of lemon and coffee
mixed is not the most pleasant in the world, but it's doable...). Mix coffee and lemon
juice and use that to prepare the paste.
- If you want to boost the brown even more you can mix in ground coffee beans with
the henna powder - do this before you mix with the liquid. I'd probably use about two
to three tablespoons of ground coffee for 150 grams of henna.
- For the cloves I really don't know - I avoid cloves myself as they make my scalp itch.
If you use them they should be mixed with the dry henna powder before adding
liquid.
