Henna penetrates and binds to keratin. PPD sits on the surface. You don't need to
open the cuticle.

I've never tried hennaing my mustache. By the time I hennaed again, which is 3-4
weeks later, at least half of it would grow out. My hair and beard are colorful
enough.
