I often wear patchouli oil in my hair and my mom will insist she can
smell it days later (I of course don't notice, being used to it).

Then again, she'll also insist she can smell it even after I've washed
it and haven't put any more on, so maybe she's just weird. She keeps
saying the house smells like patchouli, even when I haven't worn it
for a couple weeks!

: My all-time favourite is rosemary. Other good ones include cedarwood,
: lemon, lavender, patchouli, ylang-ylang. Look up their properties,
: but as long as you don't go for anything that's going to irritate your
: skin (avoid the likes of clove oil), you should be fine, just go for
: what scent you like.
:
: That said, I did a sort of cassia treatment. The only cassia I could
: get was in blends with other herbs. I can't remember how much I added
: in the way of essential oils, but the scent didn't last all that long
: afterwards. And to be honest, I'm not sure the treatment was worth
: all the hassle, as I don't think the effects lasted more than a week.
: Herbal vinegar rinses seem to be the key for me, as well as a good
: shampoo and conditioner. Everyone always tells me how lovely my hair
: smells, and in fact it has its own fan club.
:
: Two essential oils I have used in final rinses where I've noticed that
: the fragrance really did linger until the next time I washed it (twice
: a week) are patchouli and sandalwood. Sandalwood is pricey, so that
: one's only for special occasions.
