Which herbal teas do you add? Sage, anyone?

K's been hennaed, by the way. Henna, cloves, lemon juice, sage tea,
tea tree and cardamon oils. She gave in after 5 1/2-6 hours
(depending on where you count from, it took 1/2 hour to henna her)
claiming that it was getting itchy, and now occasionally mutters that
she should have left it on for longer.

It's turned out beautifully. The hair which had been coloured
chemically is a deep red, and the rest has a nice reddish tinge to the
dark brown, somewhere between dark brown and very deep auburn. She's
been getting rather annoyed with the way my gaze keeps straying to her
hair as I admire my handiwork; her necklines appear to be getting
lower in an attempt to counteract this. She'll try to get it
photographed over the next week, and then we can send all the details
to Catherine for here.

I added two sage tea bags to the mix since sage is meant to darken
hair. Has anyone else used sage, and what results did they get? What
other herbs, of the sort available in teabag form, have people tried?
I was wondering about thyme and rooibosch, for instance. K is going
for the deep red look, and J, who is hopefully getting hennaed next
week, is aiming for copper (dark dirty blonde hair, last chemically
dyed copper a couple of months ago and has faded to strawberry
blonde). Would horsetail change the colour at all? It's very good
for conditioning, I use it for my herbal rinses.
