I think the henna's dead

K's still not done her strand test, but the henna mix is in the
freezer. J's just come over with a hair sample, and we mixed up some
henna (henna, lemon juice, water) and left it in a bowl covered with
cling film, with a paper towel on top to check for the dye release.
No sign of any orange on the dye release. Is the henna dead? I've
been using it for samples for months, it's been sitting in the
bathroom cabinet. Does this explain why K's strand test didn't work?
