Henna in sight

At last, the dreaded exams are over and we can henna. I finally met upwith K yesterday, and got a chance to have a good look at the colour
of her hair (now chin-length). Just to recap, it's very dark brown
naturally, and in January she had some of the top layer bleached and
dyed red. The dyed stuff is apparently fading and looked like quite a
nice auburn to me.
Any guesses about how long we should try leaving the henna on for the
first test? I'm not 100% sure how deep a colour she wants to end up
with, obviously it'll be pretty dark, but I think she wants to even it
out as much as possible and still have an element of red there.
